For excellent omnidirectional outdoor stereo sound without messy wires, the Acoustic Research AW-811 single speaker provides patented 900 MHz wireless technology, which lets your signal transmit through walls, floors and ceilings at distances of up to 300 ft. (depending on source) inside your house or outside with no line of sight required between the speaker and transmitter. Plus, you can put the speaker wherever you like; its water-resistant design lets the AW-811 thrive outdoors and indoors, and in humid areas such as kitchens and baths. Plus the speaker will tune to the transmitter automatically, at the touch of a button. Since this comes as a single speaker, you can adjust sound with the stereo/mono switch to optimize the sound of the digital amplifier (second speakers, required for stereo sound, are sold separately). Controls include one easy to use knob for the 3-in-1 power, tuning, and volume control, and a channel select switch that lets you change transmission frequencies to operate more than one 900 MHz product within the same area. To help eliminate extra noise, the speaker comes with a RF noise reduction system. This speaker is also designed to be moved; there's a built-in folding handle, a non-skid surface (so you can use it as a tabletop), and it runs on either 8 C batteries (not included) or an AC adaptor.  What I needed June 13, 2008
I am not asking alot of this product.
I just want to listen to music no matter
what room Im in. This speaker does what I
need it to - at a price that worked for
me.

This is functional as a deck/patio speaker for a party or casual listening. I think the quality of sound is reasonable for that purpose. I bought one speaker. I am not sure that two speakers would provide true stereo effect. Easy to get up and running. Takes a little adjustment in placement to get best reception.

I purchased this speaker to compliment my Acoustic Research AW-871 Wireless Stereo Speakers for use both inside and outside my home. The setup was remarkably easy (follow the directions) and the sound and output is great for both my stereo system and for the large screen TV. I would and have recommended this setup to friends and family.
Sound ok, but won't work with digital output February 24, 2008
I like the sound of it, but don't put in batteries and plug in, they ended up leaking on my floor, also the transmitter won't work if your input is digital sound.
 Not worth the money February 16, 2008
These speakers were much larger and cumberson than I had expected. Plus if you weren't in direct line site of the transmiter, forget it. When they were close to each other, you did get sound. Ya, the sound from a channel on my tv. Changing channel selections on the unit got rid of the tv, but the sound was like that of a old $2 am radio.
My recommendation is to go out to Radio Shack and buy some mini plug extentions, and forget about the wireless idea.
An article in "Wired" said about the same thing in an article.
