Received as a gift. Out of the box, it could not get wireless reception even if the receiver was TOUCHING the speaker unit. The wired connection worked, but the sound quality was horrible. The whole speaker casing and internals pop and crack when the volume is turned up. Will be exchanging to try one more time. Hopefully its just a bum unit, but im not holding my breath.
Poor Manufacturer Quality August 9, 2008
I have had this speaker for quote some time now and am on my second one. The first speaker received simply did not work. Brookstone swapped it out and provided me with a second one. While the sound quality is OK it does pick up a lot of interference even over a short distance. The issue that bothers me the most is the lack of craftsmanship. The battery pack takes 8D batteries. Well, we used this speaker a lot during the summer and over the winter had left it inside the house mostly unused. The following summer when attempting to use the speaker, it no longer worked on batteries alone. Plugging the speaker in; it worked. Apparently, the weight of the batteries in the battery pack caused the pack to come loose and the speaker would no longer work on batteries alone without a lot of effort and shimmies in the pack. This is a pain and poorly designed.
Contacting Brookstone at this point - well you know, just fell outside of the one year warranty so they wouldn't help at all.
Now I am looking for a new speaker and it will not be this one.

I just set up and hooked this speaker up yesterday, and boy, does it sound great?!! Makes my bedroom TV sound ten times better!! As long as your TV has a headphone jack.
No speaker wire to trip over and get pulled from speaker! When used outdoors near the swimming pool, no running back and forth to adjust the volume from the audio source!! Ultra lightweight, yet strong and powerful!
Futuristic space-age design makes it look like it is made years ahead of its time!! Weather proof so that the listening pleasure never stops wherever you may go within the 150-foot range of the house. Transmitter signal to speaker works even through walls, ceilings and floors!!
Truly the wave of the future!!

I fly quite a bit for my job, a road warrior you would say, and I have been eyeing this speaker for over a year in Sky Mall magazine. We have a summer get a way place and this will be perfect on the dock on the lake just relaxing. We have already tried it out at home at our pool, and it works wonderfully, either plugged in or with batteries.

I just bought one of these things and I could not wait to take it home and try it out. It was easy enough to install, but the sound quality is not great. The sound is a bit shallow and narrow. I was expecting a much fuller range of sound, with higher quality. However, I am going to keep it, put it in the bathroom, and use it to listen to music while I shower. Other than that, I would not sit in a room and listen to this for too long because the sound quality would drive me nuts after a while.
