Outfitted with glass and mineral-filled polypropylene enclosures that resist UV rays and all types of weather conditions--including blistering hot sun and rain showers--the speakers are great for people who like to entertain outdoors with barbecue tongs in hand. The speakers are versatile enough to work indoors, too, as front or rear satellite speakers within a home theater system. And should the speakers' default white color clash with your indoor or outdoor environment, you can easily repaint the speakers a different color. Each speaker sports a 5-inch mica-filled polypropylene woofer with a butyl surround and a 1-inch liquid-cooled ElastoDynamic dome tweeter, which combine to produce a frequency response of 110 Hz to 21 kHz. Listeners with a taste for bass will likely want to add a powered subwoofer to boost the low-end frequencies. Other audio features include a recommended power handling of 10 to 100 watts, 8-ohm impedance, and gold-plated, recessed five-way binding post speaker terminals for the best possible audio performance.
Installation is relatively painless thanks to the rustproof adjustable mounting brackets and stainless-steel/brass hardware, both of which hold up to long-term abuse from the elements. The process is far quicker when the following tools are on hand, however: a stud locator, cordless screwdriver, pencil, wire stripper, wire labels, and three screws or bolts suitable for the mounting surface. The speakers are also compatible with OmniMount brackets (sold separately), giving listeners several additional installation options.
Each speaker measures 7 by 9.25 by 6.62 inches (W x H x D), including the bracket, and carries a two-year warranty on parts and labor.
