Product Description This 2-way 4" bookshelf loudspeaker with high-impact molded enclosure reproduces sound with unmatched clarity and power. The PolyPlas (polymer-coated cellulose fiber) cone woofer features traditional JBL engineering; the same technologies used in JBL's Professional equipment that can be found in stadiums, music halls and movie theaters around the world. Shielded components allow placement near video monitors. High-temperature, oversized Kapton voice coil and HeatScape motor structure allow these speakers to effortlessly play all types of movies and music. The FreeFlow flared port increases bass response without adding unwanted port noise. JBL's custom-designed drivers allow the use of simple, Straight-line Signal Path (SSP) crossover networks with high-quality electrical components that minimize processing that could degrade the signal. These speakers are also weather resistant that allows you to place them on you patio for outdoor listening enjoyment.

Best of the bunch August 22, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I spent a weekend listing to the various choices of outdoor speakers. I wanted something durable for my backyard. These fit the bill. They have solid enclosures and provide a great balanced sound. The bass is more than adequate for outdoors when driven with a good receiver (mine is a Yamaha putting out 75w/channel). If you want to crank it up some, these are the ones you want. The other outdoor speakers would have been OK for background, but lacked the fullness when turned up. THey are big, so be prepared to be creative when mounting (thus the 4 stars).
Outdoor Application March 30, 2003 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased a pair of JBL N24AW's for the sole purpose of mounting them over my patio deck. Not only are they built durable enough to handle the Midwest climate, they have produced excellent sound for my application. The response on the speakers in above adequate for the outdoors. However, they are not played at a high decibel range in respect of neighbors. Although I have seen reviews stating that the bass response is weak, I am pleased with the bass reproduction on my pair. I recommend these speakers for anyone looking for a tasteful speaker to hang in an outdoor entertainment area.
Disappointing sound. November 6, 2001 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
I picked up this pair of small, attractive speakers the other day with high hopes. They're really nice looking and simple. But the sound quality was atrocious. We get richer bass and a less tinny overall sound out of the free speakers that came with a much (MUCH) cheaper all-in-one boom box than we did with these JBLs on a state-of-the-art Harman/Kardon receiver. I was really, really disappointed.
Great Outdoor Speakers June 24, 2000 10 out of 31 found this review helpful
Truely rich sound from these small outdoor speakers that allow you to tune in, turn on and drop out.
