Christmas Gift January 7, 2009 I bought this for my little sister for Christmas. She loves it. We have several iPod docking stations in my house and she prefers this one. It is compatible with many iPods, has loud, clear volume, and the extras like the clock and radio are awesome.
Poor Quality January 4, 2009 The sound quality on this is really, really bad. When I play my ipod, there's static/feedback on every song. My ipod plays fine everywhere else so I know it's the boombox. I am just having bad luck with this particular brand and I won't be purchasing anything from them again. I had to return a previous radio, and am returning this one also. Thankfully Amazon has an easy return policy!
Great, Cheap iPod Speaker December 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this boombox last Christmas as a present from my brother. This is a great sounding system for 40 dollars, and its slim, functional and fits nicely on my bedside table. I use this thing every night to listen to podcasts. So if you're looking for a cheap iPod speaker with great sound, this is a really good choice
Perfect! I love this dock! December 19, 2008 I purchased this for my 8yr old son for Christmas to go with his 4th gen nano. The sound is great and it even has bass. The controls are just like using a cd player. This is a really good buy!
Cheaply Made + Poor Design & Assembly = JUNK December 13, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am shocked that this item has gotten generally great reviews on Amazon.com. I was convinced by the many positive reviews to buy one, and I couldn't have ended up any more disappointed. In fact, I just processed the return online with Amazon.com, and it is going back as a defective product. Here are the two major flaws I identified with this unit:
1. Poor Assembly: My unit was missing a sliding switch from the top when I took it out of the box. I figured it must have popped off during shipment, but the button was nowhere to be found inside the box. This tells me that there are very poor quality controls at the factory where these units are assembled.
2. Unimpressive Design: There are several design flaws I identified. First, the high-gloss finish is nice until the first time you touch the unit. From that time forward, you will never have a smudge-free unit for the rest of your life. There is a reason why other manufacturers do not have a high-gloss finish--it is impractical. Second, the A/C power cord does not connect tightly in the plug on the back of the unit. When I moved the unit around, the cord shifted slightly and I lost power. Third, my 1st Generation Nano did not fit snugly into the unit, even when I used the proper adapter, which was included in the box. Given that this unit was designed specifically to hold a 1st Generation Nano, there is no excuse for this.
I have learned my lesson from this experience. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. This unit is nothing to write home about. Spend a few more bucks and get yourself a decent alternative.
